I had a kid working for me who was obsessed with that song when it came out, also seemed to have a major crush on Rebecca Black. I got a couple of complaints from his roommates that he was blasting it constantly after lights out and annoying everyone in ear shot. Anyway, turned out he might have actually just liked the song, since I ended up having to fire him later after he came out as gay.

I keep reminding them how lucky the are that I’m not my dad. When I was a kid, every time we rode in the car the ONLY thing we listened to was classical music. He never played our stations on the radio. As it is, I play classical music for a living, but I never listen to it.

No special horse- trading involved, really. I’ma be straight with them. I have a big family and want to make a bunch of Toylanders for them beyond all reason; I will be altering the plans on some to the point of being unrecognizable, but I’m still reverse-engineering what they’ve got, so send me dem licences , I have money.

Re: how to build an FC out of the Toylander , it’s mostly a question of taking the existing floorplan lengthening plans I’ll develop for making a 109, cutting the floorplan down to a center box only, taking the front half of the floorplan, shortening it up, putting it up higher on a “box” extension (basically, carrying the wheel well frame of the bed all the way forward), and some other things. Same basic seat, shortened and transposed slightly. Same firewall, window frame, altered doors, some tricky changes to the steering, and possibly one big vacuform piece for the front cowl.

Yeah, maybe look into using Kydex for the cowl and hood. Unless of course you have the required sheet metal tools to do those curves.

I do arguably have the right sheet metal tools , but no. Or more correctly, “no, other than possibly to make a form”. Was looking at building a vacuum table and using ABS for some major panels, clear PETG for making roofs so I could have working side windows and just mask off to paint.

Roofs to be hinged or otherwise easily set aside, obviously, so that I still don’t have to include working doors, although I’m wavering on that one too.

Toylander does not include roof plans. They underestimate how insane some of their customers might be.

I won’t build the table until the new shop area is roofed (basically 26'x40' new space under cover), but when that’s done - hey. Also, I have access through work to some heating elements and latches and other hardware that should be ideal for making one, and access through my brother the E.E. to sophisticated controls for such a table, so...

Also, a buddy wants me to make parts for R2D2s and I need to make a new head for my Dalek and possibly some friends.

My wife was a Marine Corps brat. Born in Rhode Island, moved to Lompoc, CA days after she was born , then Jacksonville, SC, and finally Norfolk. Her dad had enlisted for Korea, then went to OCS, did two tours of Vietnam, and retired a full colonel. Great guy. He wa s interred at Arlington, with full honors (riderless horse, caisson, gun salute, band, the works).

It wasn’t so much the quality of Sinatra’s voice as it was the way he sang. His phrasing was second to none. Another great from that era who doesn’t get near the credit he deserves to day was Mel Torme.

I’d agree, and he’s another that gets judged unfairly based on some of the material he chose to record, but was top notch in terms of talent.
